Read the report: Line Zone Report [PDF] The I’m a Mathematician Line Zone ran from 2 to 27 November 2020. The Zone featured 32 mathematicians and was funded by the Institute of Mathematics and its Applications. Mathematicians 32 mathematicians created profiles in the Zone 24 engaged with students through live Chats and/or Ask questions Mathematicians from a broad range of fields and career stages took part. For example: Kate Elliott – Medical Physicist working for the NHS Christos Klerides – modeller for Mott MacDonald Sarah Barry – medical researcher at the University of Strathclyde Students 243 students from 7 schools in England and Scotland logged into the Zone 36% of active students were from target schools (WP and/or U) 32% were from widening participation (WP) schools 4% were from underserved (U) schools

Circle Zone Report – Stay at home 2020

In March 2020, I’m a Mathematician, Stay at home was launched to allow school students to stay connected with STEM during the school closures due to coronavirus. CHRISTMAS LECTURES 2019 Zone Report

The 2019 ​I’m a Mathematician ​CHRISTMAS LECTURES Zone was commissioned by The Royal Institution with support from Lloyd’s Register Foundation, UK Research and Innovation, KPMG, and Schlumberger. The online event gave school students, the viewing public, and the LECTURES attendees the opportunity to continue the conversation about the Royal Institution’s CHRISTMAS LECTURES series,“Secrets and lies: The hidden power of maths”​, as well as the surrounding mathematical, scientific, societal, and ethical themes. This Zone Report contains key activity data from the Zone. We learnt: 81% of teachers used the activity in a Maths class. The project reached new teachers, students, and subjects. activity levels have increased compared with previous CHRISTMAS LECTURES Zones. discussions in the Zone were on topic. Students asked about Maths and the real world. teacher feedback shows the activity broadening students’ perceptions of maths and mathematicians. Read the full report [PDF]
