If our roster of mathematicians is full, we will add you to the reserve list. While you are on the reserve list, you can set up your profile so you are ready to go when we have the capacity to start inviting you to Chats.
📋 Why am I on the reserve list?
There are a couple of reasons why this might happen:
- We rely on funders to support the I’m a… projects. As a result, we prioritise the applications of those who are connected to one of our funders.
- Each funder supports a limited number of spaces. That said, we often swap out who we have on the site. It is worth completing your profile so we can see you are keen and ready to go when we do a reshuffle.

🤔 What can I do as a reserve list mathematician?
As a reserve list mathematician, you can set up a profile so you can get going as soon as a space becomes available. You may still receive some Chat invitations. During special events such as Maths Week England or for more niche Chat themes, we sometimes include reserve list mathematicians to make sure that there are enough people to connect with the students.
When you become an active mathematician, you will enjoy full access to the site. This includes receiving Chat invites across any theme you choose, receiving more invites, and getting them further in advance. You will also get access to our public engagement CPD course, The Academy.
